I know what a drag it is looking for jobs in sport. When I graduated from university, I applied to 200 different sports-related organization in the Greater Toronto Area. I got five interviews, and only one job offer. There are definitely jobs out there, but as I’ve mentioned before it has to do with my highest five: hard work, connections, qualifications, timing, and luck. Keep at it, and if you’re willing to relocate, you’ll find something to get your foot in the door.
In the meantime, here are some sites that cover all the job postings in Canada:
SIRC (Sport Research Intelligence Sportive) – The Number 1 site I visit to check out job postings, and it’s constantly updated. You won’t find all of it here, but most.
CIS (Canadian Interuniversity Sport) – This is specific to the CIS – so only jobs at the national headquarters – but links you to the four conferences, which you can find here:
AUS (Atlantic University Sport) – Not a lot of turnover at all, but if you get a job, you’re keeping it.
RSEQ (Réseau du Sport Étudiant du Québec) – They cover all PSOs, universities, and CÉGEPs. All in French.
OUA (Ontario University Sport) – Always a high turnover of coaching positions each summer. Remember though: of any province, Ontario has the most sport management degrees offered (9 of 16), therefore you’re competing with a bunch of homegrown talent.
CWUAA (Canada West Universities Athletic Association) – A competitive conference, who’s schools are always looking for an edge, so look their way for innovative job openings.
